Hi, I'm Kelly Anne Besmonte

I'm a Filipino-Canadian brand and web designer based in Toronto, Ontario. I'm also a wife, dog mama, and certified coffee lover.

Creativity has always been my first language. Ever since I was a kid with a paintbrush in hand, making things just felt natural — definitely more than memorizing the periodic table ever did. That early love for art led me to study Drawing & Painting at OCAD University, where I learned how to tell stories visually while juggling customer service gigs and running a cozy Etsy shop full of stickers, prints, and enamel pins. When I'm not designing or writing code, you'll probably find me baking sourdough, caring for my houseplants, or snuggling with my rescue pup, Tanok.

In 2024, I earned my Diploma in Software Engineering from BrainStation, where I built a strong foundation in full-stack development and learned how to solve problems from both a design and technical perspective. That training gave me the skills to build websites from the ground up — not just design them. Understanding both sides means I can create brands and websites that don't just look good, they perform. I think about user experience, functionality, and how someone actually interacts with your site. No back-and-forth with developers trying to explain your vision. No compromises between what's beautiful and what's functional. I handle it all, and I make sure it works for the people who matter most — your clients.

These days, I work with folks who are building something meaningful and want a brand that reflects that. I design logos, websites, and visual identities for small businesses and entrepreneurs who need someone who gets it —someone who understands that your brand isn't just decoration, it's how people decide whether to trust you.

How do I know if I need a brand and/or web designer?

If your current visuals or website don’t reflect who you are anymore—or if you’re struggling to connect with your audience the way you want to—it might be time. Can't I just use AI for my brand and website?

Listen, I’m not hating on AI, but it simply cannot replace the work that brand designers and web developers do on a daily basis. AI can spit out ideas or pretty visuals, sure—but it doesn’t know your story, your audience, or the subtle ways design shapes perception. The same goes for web design and development. AI may be able to help with basic layouts, but chances are, it’ll be clunky. A designer ensures your website looks polished, functions smoothly, and feels like an extension of your brand—not just a generic template thrown together.

What can you do that other designers can't?

What's the difference between a web designer and web developer?

Great question! People do tend to use these titles interchangeably, but they’re actually two different parts of the process. A web designer focuses on the look and feel—the layout, colors, typography, imagery, and overall vibe. They make sure the website reflects your brand and feels intentional, engaging, and easy to move through. A web developer takes that design and makes it work. They handle the behind-the-scenes structure, functionality, performance, responsiveness, and all the tech that keeps your site smooth, fast, and reliable. Think of it like this: The designer decides what the house looks like. The developer builds the house so you can actually live in it. Since I do both, I make sure your website looks beautiful and works beautifully—no miscommunication, no hand-offs, just a seamless process from idea to launch.
